Why You’ll Love This

It’s hard to find plates that check all the boxes - lightweight, microwave-safe, durable, and actually nice to look at. These wheat straw dinner plates do it all without making you choose between safety and style. They’re made for real meals, real families, and real kitchens. Here’s what makes them worth reaching for every single day.

1. Big Enough for Real Meals
These 11-inch plates give you plenty of space, if it’s dinner for you or lunch for the kids. You can fit a full meal without everything touching or falling off the edge. The raised rim keeps sauces, dressings, and crumbs in place. No more mess on the table or your lap.

2. Built for Busy Homes
Made from wheat straw and food-safe plastic, these plates are lightweight but surprisingly tough. They won’t crack if dropped, and they’re safe for little hands. Whether you’ve got toddlers or teens, they hold up to daily use without breaking a sweat. You’ll finally stop worrying about broken dishes.

3. Microwave Safe Without the Drama
They heat food fast but don’t get scorching hot. That means no warping, no burned fingers, and no weird smells. Leftovers come out just right- no soggy bottoms or cold centers. It’s a simple upgrade that makes microwave meals a lot better.

4. Easy to Clean, Easy to Stack
These plates clean up quickly in the dishwasher or with a quick rinse in the sink. They don’t hold onto grease or smells, and the smooth surface makes them easy to wipe. They stack neatly, too, which helps if you’re short on cabinet space. No more cluttered kitchen chaos.

5. Nice Enough for Guests, Safe Enough for Kids
The soft colors and matte finish give these plates a modern look you’ll be proud to put on the table. They feel good in your hands-not too heavy, not too flimsy. Great for everyday meals, but also nice enough when friends or family stop by. And yep, they’re still unbreakable.

Top Features of Our Microwavable Dinner Plates

These aren’t just plates - they’re problem solvers. Every feature is built to make daily life easier, cleaner, and safer for your family. From reheating leftovers to tackling snack time with kids, here’s what makes these microwavable dinner plates stand out.

1. Microwave- Safe Without Melting or Warping
These plates are made to handle the heat. You can safely reheat leftovers, warm up pasta, or cook frozen snacks without the plate bending or getting too hot to touch. No weird smells, no soft spots, and no food sticking to the surface. Just clean, even heating that works every time.

2. Lightweight, But Tough
Each plate feels light in your hand, but don’t let that fool you- they’re strong enough for everyday use. You can drop them, toss them in a backpack, or hand them off to kids without worrying about chips or cracks. They’re a safer, smarter swap for glass or ceramic.

3. Raised Edges That Actually Catch Spills
The rim isn’t just for looks- it keeps sauce, dressing, or fruit juices from sliding off the plate. Whether you’re eating stir-fry, salad, or something saucy, you’ll appreciate how this simple detail keeps things neater. It also makes scooping easier for kids and seniors.

4. Dishwasher-Friendly and Easy to Rinse
When you're done eating, just toss them in the dishwasher- no scrubbing needed. The smooth surface doesn’t hold grease or stains, so they clean fast, even by hand. They don’t hold onto smells or change color over time either. That means less work for you and a longer life for your plates.

5. Stackable and Space-Saving
These plates don’t just work well- they store well, too. The shape stacks perfectly, so they take up less room in your cabinets or drawers. No wobbling, no tipping over when you reach for one. They’re great for small kitchens, dorms, or anyone who hates clutter.

6. Made with Safer, Sustainable Materials
Crafted from wheat straw and food-grade PP, these plates are BPA-free, non-toxic, and odorless. They’re a cleaner option for your home and safer for your family. Plus, using plant-based materials helps reduce plastic waste. It’s a small switch with a bigger purpose.

What Types of Plates Are Microwave Safe?

Choosing the right plate for microwave use is essential to ensure safety and proper heating. Here’s a breakdown of the most common types of microwave-safe plates and their characteristics:

Ceramic Plates: Ceramic plates are a popular choice for microwaving. High-quality, unglazed ceramics are generally safe, but be cautious with heavily decorated or metallic-glazed ceramics, as they can cause sparking. Ceramic plates are durable, heat-resistant, and ideal for reheating and cooking in the microwave.

Glass Plates: Glass plates, especially those labeled microwave-safe, are one of the safest options. They are durable and resistant to cracking under heat. Always avoid using glassware with chips or cracks, as these can worsen under microwave conditions.

Plastic Plates: Microwave-safe plastic plates are designed to handle microwave heat without warping or releasing harmful chemicals. Look for plates labeled as BPA-free or microwave-safe plastic. Avoid low-quality or disposable plastic plates, which may melt or leach chemicals into your food.

Paper Plates: Plain, uncoated paper plates are safe to use in the microwave and are ideal for reheating lightweight meals. However, avoid plates with plastic coatings or printed designs, as these may release harmful chemicals or catch fire under prolonged heating.

Silicone Plates: Silicone plates, made from food-grade silicone, are highly heat-resistant and safe for microwave use. They can withstand high temperatures without melting or leaching chemicals, making them an eco-friendly and reusable alternative to plastic.

When selecting microwave-safe plates, prioritize materials like ceramic, glass, and food-grade silicone for their durability and non-toxic properties. While microwave-safe plastic and paper plates are convenient, ensure they are labeled safe for microwave use to avoid potential health risks. Always inspect plates for damage and follow any manufacturer guidelines to ensure safety.

Materials to Avoid in the Microwave

Metal: Metal plates or those with metallic rims can cause sparks and damage the microwave.

Styrofoam: Unless explicitly labeled microwave-safe, styrofoam can melt and release harmful chemicals.

Non-Microwave-Safe Plastics: Thin or unmarked plastics might melt or leach chemicals when exposed to heat.

Decorative or Handmade Items: Plates with intricate designs, gold, silver, or non-microwave-safe paints are risky.

Crystal or Leaded Glass: These materials can crack or release harmful substances when microwaved.

How to Tell if a Plate Is Microwave Safe?

Look for Manufacturer Labels: Check the bottom of the plate for labels like "Microwave Safe" or symbols such as wavy lines. Plates marked as microwave-safe are designed to handle microwave heat without melting or releasing harmful chemicals.

Perform a Quick Heat Test: Fill a microwave-safe cup with water and place it on the plate. Microwave both for 1 minute. If the plate stays cool or slightly warm while the water heats up, it’s safe for the microwave. If the plate becomes very hot, it’s not microwave-safe.

Consider the Material:
Ceramic, glass, and food-grade silicone plates are generally microwave-safe.
Avoid plates with metallic finishes or decorations, as these can spark in the microwave. For plastic plates, ensure they are labeled BPA-free and microwave-safe.

Avoid Old or Damaged Plates: Chipped or cracked plates may not handle microwave heat well and could break further during use. Always inspect plates for damage before microwaving.

What You Can Serve On It

These plates aren’t just for looks - they’re made to handle whatever’s on the menu. From big dinners to kid snacks, they’re deep enough to hold messy meals and wide enough for full portions. Here’s what you can confidently serve on them, mess-free.

Big Dinners: These 11-inch plates hold full, filling meals without crowding. Think BBQ chicken thighs with mashed potatoes and green beans. Or baked salmon with quinoa and sautéed spinach. There’s room for a buttered dinner roll or a drizzle of gravy- nothing spills over thanks to the raised edge.

Kid-Friendly Meals: Perfect for picky eaters or little snack lovers. Serve up Annie’s mac and cheese, dino nuggets, sliced strawberries, and mini pretzels all at once. Add ketchup or ranch on the side - it won’t run into everything else. Great for toddler lunches, after-school snacks, or weekend breakfast plates with mini pancakes, blueberries, and scrambled eggs.

Messy Meals: Bring on the saucy foods. Pile up spaghetti with meat sauce, cheesy enchiladas, or beef tacos with salsa and guac. Even chili dogs or pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw stay put on these plates. The rim catches it all - no more spills on your lap or table.

Quick Snacks: Pop in a leftover slice of pepperoni pizza, two Eggos, or a microwave burrito. Reheat samosas, mozzarella sticks, garlic knots, or frozen taquitos without needing another tray. Eat straight off the plate, then toss it in the dishwasher - done in minutes.

Salads and Bowls: Build a full-size salad with chopped romaine, grilled chicken, shredded cheddar, and croutons - there’s still room for toast. Or make a grain bowl with brown rice, black beans, avocado, and corn. Even yogurt bowls with granola, banana slices, and peanut butter work great here.

Use and Care

Taking care of these plates is easy- no special steps, no extra hassle. They’re built for daily use and clean up fast. Follow these simple tips to keep them looking great and working like new, meal after meal.

Dishwasher Safe: Place on the top rack for best results. No scrubbing needed- just rinse and load.

Microwave Safe: Safe for reheating at up to 248°F (120°C). Use medium power for best results.

Not Oven or Freezer Safe: Keep out of conventional ovens and deep freezers to prevent cracking or warping.

Avoid Sharp Utensils: Don’t cut food directly on the plate with knives to keep the surface smooth.

Store Smart: Plates stack neatly without scratching or tipping. Great for saving cabinet space.

No Special Cleaners Needed: A little soap and warm water is all it takes to keep them looking new.

FAQs

Got questions? Here are the answers to the most common things people ask about our microwavable dinner plates - how to use them, care for them, and why they’re worth it.

What Types of Plates Are Microwave Safe?

Plates made from wheat straw, food-grade PP, glass, or ceramic are generally microwave safe. Avoid anything with metal, melamine, or decorative foil edges. Our plates use wheat straw and BPA-free PP, which are tested for heat resistance and daily microwave use.

How to Tell if a Plate Is Microwave Safe?

Look for a “microwave safe” label on the bottom of the plate or in the product description. If it’s not labeled, test it by microwaving it empty for 1 minute- if it gets very hot, it’s not safe. All DoubleWave plates are labeled and tested for microwave safety up to 248°F.

Do the Plates Get Hot in the Microwave?

Unlike some plastics or ceramics, our wheat straw plates stay cool to the touch. The food heats up, but the plate remains safe to handle. That means fewer burns and safer mealtime for kids or quick eaters.

Are Wheat Straw Plates Safe and Eco-Friendly?

Absolutely. Our plates are made from renewable wheat straw and are food-grade, non-toxic, BPA-free, and odorless. They’re a more sustainable alternative to traditional plastic and help reduce waste from disposable dishes.

Do These Plates Stain or Scratch Easily?

They resist staining from sauces like tomato or soy, and everyday use won’t leave marks. However, cutting food with a sharp knife may leave light surface scratches. For best results, use with non-serrated utensils or cut food before plating.

Amazing plates

I absolutely love these dishes they work great in the microwave they don’t get hot and they wash well in the dishwasher. I love the colors that I ordered, but the only drawback is that I cannot get matching bowls to go with them, so maybe in the future, they will have them, in the same colors and I will order them. I like that they are rounded on the sides.

More of a pasta type bowl than a plate

But that absolutely works for us. We use them in our RV. Lightweight and good quality. We bought the bowls a couple of years ago and they’re great too.

All the features I was looking for!

I was looking for plates made from a sustainable material, that were lightweight but sturdy, looked good and were both microwave and dishwasher safe. We like these so much we ordered a second set, and also their bowls. These plates are made from wheat straw, which is essentially the waste material from the wheat crop, they are sustainable and also biodegradable, but they are thick and sturdy. The colors are fun and they come beautifully packaged. The only thing I wish was that they also made a more flat version to add to the set. Thanks for a great product, highly recommended!

Very nice for everyday use

Seem to be great dishes. They are deep, they stack well, and are a good size for a meal. Only downside is that they do not hold up to cutting on with a knife. It scars them up pretty bad. Overall, well worth the money.

Love These Spaghetti Plates

These are very nice deep dinner plates. I call them spaghetti plates but they are good for everyday use. The plates are deep so they hold in sauces nicely. I had some stoneware plates that were similar but I like these even better. These are lightweight but not too light. I found out I like using these regularly. These are great because not only are they break-proof, you can also put them in the microwave or dishwasher. I like the simplicity of these plates yet they are kind of elegant at the same time. This is not your mother's plastic dishware.! These would also make a great gift.

Great Plates!

These came nicely packaged. Had a card from company with mission statement. They are nice thick plates. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. I put on bottom rack of the dishwasher, and had no issues. I like the high edges, great for pasta, messier foods. They are slightly smaller than a full dinner plate. Would recommend!
